Most vinyl flooring has just a thin layer of color on the surface, usually a photocopy of whatever material it's trying to mimic. On top of that is a plastic "wear layer" that gets damaged as soon as the kids track in sand or the dog scratches the floor. Many vinyl floors need to be replaced after just a few years.
The top layer of Marmoleum Click is a generous 2mm of true linoleum. It’s colorfast, and extremely durable. The color goes all the way through, so wear spots aren’t very noticeable, and scuffs and scratches can be buffed out. Marmoleum doesn’t melt; cigarette burns rub away with a nylon pad or steel wool.
Marmoleum has excellent resistance to indentation marks. Linoleum gets tougher as time goes on, because it’s made from linseed oil that continues to cure. Its static load limit is 150 pounds per square inch; double that of many vinyl composition tiles.
Marmoleum comes pre-finished with TopShield, a tough protective coating that preserves the floor’s appearance and lowers cleaning costs. The factory-applied finish has two layers, and the bottom one is cured with UV light to be very hard.
